Thermal Recovery

Thermal recovery is heating oil in a reservoir to lower its viscosity and improve recovery of the oil. There are basically two methods of heating oil in a reservoir. Hot fluids, such as steam, water, or gas, can be injected into a reservoir. Oil can be burned in the reservoir to generate heat. Oil can be ignited in the reservoir by injecting hot air into it.
